Carolyn was elected to Derbyshire County Council in May 2021 representing Eckington and Killamarsh Division. Carolyn serves as Cabinet Member for Infrastructure and Environment.
Carolyn is also a North East Derbyshire District Councillor for Ridgeway and Marsh Lane, while also serving as a Parish Councillor for Eckington, and is the current sitting Chair of Eckington Parish Council.
