Bolsover South By-Election candidate Juliet Armstrong has given Labour and UKIP a run for their money in the hotly contested poll on Thursday.
The By-Election had been called following the sad passing of Labour Councillor James Hall earlier this year. Since being selected as the Conservative Candidate for the election, Juliet had been hitting the streets finding out the issues that really matter to local residents. In doing so, she gathered considerable support from those who had grown tired of Labour's complacency and wanted a fresh start for Bolsover with a Conservative voice on the Council.
Sadly, Juliet was unsuccessful on this occasion but she came an admirable and very narrow third behind Labour and UKIP. Juliet and local campaigners have vowed to continue to campaign across Bolsover, to give the area the Conservative representation it so badly needs.
The full results of Thursday's poll were as follows:
Labour - 232 (elected)
UKIP - 127
Conservatives - 109
Trade Unionists and Socialists Against Cuts - 78
