North Derbyshire Conservatives were delighted to welcome the Party Chairman Sir Patrick McLoughlin MP to Ashover last weekend for a Pie and Pea fundraiser.
The event took place at the Bassett Rooms in the village, with nearly 40 members and supporters in attendance.
Guests were treated to a meat and potato pie with mushy peas and a desert of lemon meringue pie, followed up with tea, coffee and the obligatory Conservative raffle.
Sir Patrick recounted a number of stories from his 30 years as an MP, many of which have been spent on the front benches. He also imparted some of his vision for the future of the Conservative Party and the ways in which the organisation must grow and improve in the years to come.
The event and raffle contributed significantly to our fighting funds for next year's all-important County Council elections.
