Killamarsh Parish Council's 'Parish Suite' refurbishment was completed this month, just in time for their Christmas and New Year celebrations. Following the securing of funds of £99,410 from the FCC Community Foundation Community Projects Fund towards the project, the outstanding balance was funded from the Councils earmarked reserves that had been allocated to the refurbishment beforehand from carefully managed funds. This was achieved off the back of the saving made by the Conservative administration during the last election cycle, while the transition of the Leisure Centre was underway.
The total cost of the refurbishment was £158,524 which was significantly lower than we had first anticipated. We're grateful to JBW Construction who completed the refurbishment and FCC Community Foundation for granting us the funding so we could get this project over the line. The venue now has a fresh and modern appeal to residents, and anyone wanting to hire it can do so at cost effective rates. It has a fully licenced bar, 20 ft wide cinema screen and 7 Channel Surround Sound System, modernised catering kitchen and separate community kitchen to deliver a variety of events along with fully refurbished toilet facilities.
Steve Clough, Chair of Killamarsh Parish Council said "The response we have received from those residents who have visited it so far is extremely positive, and we already have some Christmas events and a fully booked New Year's Eve party going ahead. The dedication in getting this over the line with many challenges from the opposition showed the true determination of Conservative Councillors giving Killamarsh Residents more bang for their buck and delivering value for money. Our community can trust that we Conservatives make sensible investments in Killamarsh and make sure facilities are available for a full range of activities... and we'll make sure we still deliver a Parish Council tax precept reduction going into the new financial year".
