I hope that by now you will have heard the wonderful news that our constituency will soon see the return of post-16 education. The approval of the new sixth form at The Bolsover School is a significant win for our community.
After campaigning for this since 2019, I'm delighted that it is now set to open in September 2026, serving young people from Clowne, Shirebrook, Bolsover, South Normanton, Tibshelf and surrounding villages. The proposed site is still being finalised, but it will be located within Bolsover, and transport to ensure accessibility to as many young people as possible is high on the list of priorities.
The Redhill Academy Trust, The Bolsover School and I are collaborating with the University of Derby to ensure the new sixth form offers technical courses aligned with industry needs. The goal is to give our young people a solid start in life. Now, our focus shifts to making this happen. I'll keep everyone updated on the progress. This isn't just about building a new facility; it's about delivering on our commitment to the future of Bolsover and its youth.
