Extra Patrols to Tackle Anti-Social Behaviour
As your Police and Crime Commissioner, I have successfully secured £4.4 million in Home Office funding. Being only one of four Police Forces within the country to obtain this. I was delighted to welcome the Home Secretary to Derbyshire in July and was pleased to see her recognise the
considerable progress we have made in Derbyshire since 2021.
This summer, my office launched the Derbyshire Action Against Anti-Social Behaviour Plan which will see extra police patrols in hotspot areas and neighbourhood wardens on our streets. Having already gone live in Chesterfield, the scheme is being rolled out across Derbyshire ensuring that Police and Wardens have the ability to take strong and urgent action to make our public spaces safer.
I know ASB is a real concern for residents across Derbyshire and for this reason I made it a key priority within my Police and Crime Plan. I am proud to say that we have seen significant improvements in Derbyshire over the last 2 years. This scheme will build on the progress I have already made and ensure hardworking citizens and communities receive the support they need to stamp out ASB.
Swift Punishment for ASB Offenders through New ‘Immediate Justice’ Scheme
Additionally, as part of the £4.4 million funding from Government, my office has designed and implemented a bespoke scheme that ensures offenders will receive swift punishment for their behaviour.
Proactive policing patrols will intensify over the coming weeks, benefitting every district and borough.
Perpetrators will be dealt with quickly and robustly. They will be made to confront the full consequences of their actions and pay back their victims and communities for the harm they have caused.
As your Conservative Police and Crime Commissioner, I believe it is imperative that we adopt a firm and tough approach to tackling crime. This scheme provides a bold new way of making perpetrators face up to their actions and is one which I hope residents and victims will see make a real difference in our communities. It is a credit to Derbyshire that we are one of a select few number of forces chosen to trial this trailblazing initiative in tackling crime.
ASB Grant Scheme
In addition, I have recently launched a further Anti-Social Behaviour Prevention Grant Scheme which will see a further £100k in grants invested in community-based crime prevention schemes over the next 12 months. Grants of up to £5,000 were made available for organisations which could successfully evidence their plans to increase the safety of local people and divert young people away from crime. Applications for the Grant have now closed, and those who have applied will be informed about the progress of their applications in the very near future.
