Over 420 Council (Rykneld) tenant households from across the District have benefitted from our over £12million external wall insulation programme. This includes residents in Dronfield, Unstone, Eckington, Mickley, Barlow, North Wingfield, Renishaw, Holymoorside, Cutthorpe, Woolley Moor, Wessington and others. Supported by over £2million Government funding, this major investment has helped to:
- keep some of the hardest to heat homes in the District warmer during the winter months
- supported tenants to save significantly on their energy bills at a time when prices are rising
- enabled other improvement works like roofing, windows and structural
- cut our District's carbon emissions by almost 10,000 tonnes by 2050
The scheme has also received high praise from Friends of the Earth. We’re continuing to work hard on this issue as we know there’s more to do to ensure all residents can benefit from Green Homes funding, including homeowners and renters. But this initiative is a great start on the long journey ahead towards greener warmer homes for North East Derbyshire.
